Jack D. Dusek
A native of Chicago, Illinois, Jack Dusek started playing
trumpet in 5th grade and was the section leader of the George
Washington High School Band for both his Junior and Senior years.
He was also twice selected to the Chicago All-City High School Band and
as a senior was also selected for the Chicago All-City Orchestra.
He was selected while still in high school to be an assistant
brass instructor for the Illiana Lancers Drum and Bugle Corps and
through his college years became the head brass instructor and chief
brass arranger.
Jack has a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from The
Chicago College for the Performing arts of Roosevelt University with a
minor in Trumpet Performance. He studied trumpet with Tom Crown
of the Orchestra of the Lyric Opera of Chicago. He has been a
public school teacher, and a full time professional military musician
for the United States Army. He is also a Public Safety and
Security Professional and was the acting Shift Supervisor of the
Arlington County Public Safety Emergency Communications Center on
September 11, 2001. After employment as the Safety and Security
Manager for a non-profit corporation he was a Security
Supervisor under a contract to the Transportation Security
Administration of the Department of Homeland Security.
Jack has directed and performed with a wide variety of
military bands and ensembles and has performed as a trumpet player with
a wide variety of groups including pit orchestras for performances of
shows such as "Oklahoma", "The Wiz", "Once Upon a Mattress", and "Guys
and Dolls" in Chicago, South Carolina, and Germany. He was also
the Conductor of the Officer’s Candidate School Choir at Fort
Benning, Georgia. He is the Associate Conductor of the Kings Park
Community Concert Band and a member of the 1st cornet
section of the National Concert Band of America. He is also a
member of the 380th Army Band of the United States Army Reserve.
